Elyssa Rosenbaum to Compete in Summer Pan Am Maccabi Games!

Elyssa RosenbaumSyracuse resident, Elyssa Rosenbaum, will represent Team USA in the upcoming Pan American Maccabi Games.  They are being held from July 5 through 15, 2019 in Mexico City, Mexico.

Competing in the Maccabi Games is a lifelong dream come true for Elyssa.  Growing up in Syracuse she always wanted to participate in games for gymnastics, but it was never an option.  After she graduated from college, she started participating in triathlons and was quickly hooked.  To date she has competed in 2 full ironman competitions and several half-iron distance and shorter races.  She also spent 2 years in Israel and was a member of the 2013 Israeli Women’s Lacrosse World Cup Team.

Elyssa has returned to Central New York and is currently working as a Physical Education Teacher at the Syracuse Hebrew Day School while she continues to train for her up-coming summer competition. She states “I am thrilled to be representing Syracuse and Team USA at the Maccabi Games this summer! It is a lifelong dream come true to compete against incredible Jewish athletes from all around the world.”

Each American Maccabi team member is required to raise $5,779 to cover their travel costs and support the organization.  To accomplish her part of this goal, Elyssa has established an official Maccabi fundraising site which is open to everyone.  This site can be reached by going to https://bit.ly/2OnOoZP.  Donations in any amount are welcomed and will be acknowledged.

Good luck, Elyssa. We will be rooting for you.
