Federation Statement: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
Passover Shooting at Poway Chabad Synagogue
Our hearts are heavy again. Once again, here we are, six months to the day after the horrific assault at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh and subsequent attacks in Christchurch, NZ, and Sri Lanka, mourning the senseless loss of life and praying for the recovery of those injured in another senseless act of violence and hate at the Chabad Poway Synagogue.

How is it that yet again a place of worship, a sanctuary for peace and prayer, is turned into a scene of hate and violence? We are saddened but also outraged and angry. These senseless acts of violence and prejudice must end. Enough is enough!
We stand with the congregants of the Chabad of Poway, share their grief and promise to continue in our resolve to fight against anti-Semitism, hatred and bigotry in all its forms today, tomorrow and always.

Within our local community, the leadership of the Jewish Federation of Central New York has been in close contact with other leaders of our Jewish community, as well as local and regional law enforcement agencies. Patrols and police presence have been increased at synagogues, and other Jewish institutions in our area. We thank our partners in law enforcement for their support and we will continue to work with everyone to coordinate community security.
