Ellen S. Weinstein, Esq.

Ellen Weinstein is Chair of the Board.  She is a long-time member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation of Central New York and has served as Vice-Chair, Co-Chair of Allocations, Treasurer and Vice President of Planning and Allocations as well as having been a member of the Executive Committee.

She is currently a member of the Boards of Directors of:  Menorah Park and Jewish Family Services, the Volunteer Lawyer’s Project of Onondaga County, Inc., the Syracuse Hebrew Day School , Advocates, Inc. , and Vice President of the New York State Association of Chief Clerks of the Surrogate’s Court; and a past member of the Boards of Directors of: Temple Adath Yeshurun, the Jewish Community Center of Syracuse, and the Onondaga County Bar Foundation; and served as a past President of the Onondaga County Bar Association and the Jamesville-Dewitt Middle School PTG.

Ms. Weinstein is currently the Chief Clerk of the Onondaga County Surrogate’s Court.

Ms. Weinstein hails from Brooklyn and moved to Syracuse with her husband of 49 years, Howard, in 1978.  They are most proud of their wonderful family: Jessica & Gregg Rosh and their children Jamie, Sydney, Carly & Max; Caroline & Josh Weinstein and their children Ava, Tessa & Evan, and Danielle and Lisa Weinstein.

Ms. Weinstein was the 2017 recipient of the 2017  Hannah G. Solomon Woman of Valor Award from the National Council of Jewish Women’s Syracuse Chapter.  She was the 2014 recipient of the Jewish Federation of CNY’s Esther and Joseph Roth Award in Recognition of Outstanding Jewish Community Leadership and she and her husband, Howard are the recipients of the Sam Pomeranz Jewish Community Center of Syracuse’s 2017 Kovod Gadol Award.
