  This course explores the role of caregiver and changes they may experience, building a support team and managing caregiver stress. Presented by Kerri Green, Program Manager at the Alzheimer's Association of Central New York Chapter.

Join the JCC for a screening of the powerful film Four Winters which celebrates the stories of courageous Jewish fighters who, despite unimaginable odds, fought back fiercely against Hitler’s war machine. Although the Nazis seized and murdered millions of Jews during World War II, they failed to capture an estimated 25,000 who escaped into the forests of Eastern Europe. Instead of simply hiding, these young men and women — many of them teenagers — banded together to fight back, carrying out deadly acts of sabotage, staging ambushes, and waging clandestine warfare against the Nazis and their collaborators. Featuring interviews with the last living Partisans and also using rare archival film footage, letters, historic war records, and artifacts from Partisans’ personal collections, the film weaves together many strands to shatter the myth of Jewish passivity. ** Film Screening will be following by Zoomed-in Q&A with director **

In honor of Earth Day, join the JCC for a lecture by Professor Nir Becker who is currently teaching at ESF while on sabbatical from Tel-Hai College in Israel. Professor Becker will discuss the urban heat island in Tel Aviv vs. Syracuse, how shade saves energy and lives, the hidden economics: how to quantify benefits and the role of municipalities and citizens. You will also get to engage in a discussion of “What does adaptation look like on my street?”

Join the JCC for a special presentation on historic James Street presented by Dennis Connors. From the 1890s to 1930s, stately mansions lined Syracuse’s James Street, their elegant gardens, architecture, and streetscapes a point of city-wide pride. More than just beautiful facades, the mansions and people who inhabited them represented the cultural life, political leadership, industrial growth, and social reform that animated Syracuse and the nation during this period of opulence.
